CEREBUS

"There is nothing wrong with making mistakes, but one should always make new ones. Repeating mistakes is a hallmark of a dim consciousness."
- Suenteus Po

Cerebus the Aardvark is a black-and-white, 300 issue long novel in comic book form. It tells the story of an Aardvark, he's a warrior, politician, religious leader, bartender (depending on which book you read). I began reading Cerebus when I was 15 years old and also reading other comics (Spiderman, Batman etc...), I've outgrown most all super-hero comics but I still read Cerebus. Dave Sim, the writer, artist, self publisher of the comic has been doing the book since 1977. It's really quite amazing seeing that most comic book writers & artists can't even stick with a book for 1 year.

CEREBUS by Dave Sim (Collects Issues 1-25) A series of smaller self-contained storylines ranging from 1-3 issues in length. Mostly parodying sword & sorcery and comic book characters. The series began in 1977. Most of the characters from these early stories were later reintegrated back into the overall storyline.

HIGH SOCIETY by Dave Sim (Collects Issues 26-50) This book collects the 25-issue politically satirical "High Society" storyline. In this book Cerebus runs for Prime Minister of Iest.

CHURCH & STATE Vol.I by Dave Sim & Gerhard (Collects Issues 52-81) Forget Prime Minister, in these 2 books Cerebus becomes the Pope.

CHURCH & STATE Vol. II by Dave Sim & Gerhard (Collects Issues 82-111) Most Holy, Pope Cerebus continues in his reign as church leader & goes to the moon.

JAKA'S STORY by Dave Sim & Gerhard (Collects Issues 114-136) Cerebus returns from his ascension to stay with Jaka & her husband Rick. The flashback sequences to Jaka's childhood are told in mostly text pieces.

MELMOTH by Dave Sim & Gerhard (Collects Issues 139-150)

FLIGHT by Dave Sim & Gerhard (Collects Issues 151-162) The first book in the "Mothers and Daughters" storyline.

WOMEN by Dave Sim & Gerhard (Collects Issues 163-174) Book two of "Mothers and Daughters".

READS by Dave Sim & Gerhard (Collects Issues 175-186) Book three of "Mothers and Daughters".

MINDS by Dave Sim & Gerhard (Collects Issues 187-200) The final book in the "Mothers and Daughters" storyline.
